C’nut scrapings for whole nuts

With the steep rise in the price of coconuts, people are opting to buy smaller quantities of scraped coconut, at much less from Rs 10 upwards.

As the price of a coconut increased from Rs 55 to Rs 60, a trader in Gunasinghapura, Pettah, was offering 50 grams of scraped coconut for Rs 10, 100 grams for Rs 18 and 150 grams for Rs 30.

Trader Mohammed Saleem told the Sunday Times that most people in his area have now stopped buying coconuts, and therefore, he was offering smaller quantities of scraped coconut for much less.
