The convocation of The Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) will be held on February 15 at the Institute's Malabe Campus.
Chief Guests for the event, which is to be hosted in three sessions, are Minister of Higher Education S B Dissanayake, - Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) UK Professor Cliff Allan, and - High Commissioner for Australia Kathy Klugman. Other distinguished dignitaries who will attend the convocation include academics from Curtin University, Australia and SHU, UK.
SLIIT Chairman Professor S. Karunaratne states that "this year 813 students will graduate from SLIIT, with B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees, the highest number to graduate in one year up-to-date. "Gold Medals and Merit Awards will be presented to students who have achieved academic excellence by SLIIT academic staff and its academic & industry partners such as Curtin University, Sheffield Hallam University, IFS, Mpahsis, Virtusa, Epic Lanka, People's Bank, FITIS and Metropolitan Computers as they embark on new and exciting careers and we wish them all the very best in their future endeavours" elaborates President and CEO of SLIIT Professor Lalith Gamage.
SLIIT has produced more than 50% of Sri Lanka's IT / BPO professionals to date, which marks a significant contribution to the country's 5th largest export earner. |
