After veteran Ramnaresh Sarwan (123) had rescued them from a rather embarrassing four down for 65 to a respectable 253 for 8 in their allotted 50 overs, the West Indian pace duo of Roach and Russell bowled them to a comfortable 61 run win against Kenya in their warm up match at the R. Premadasa Stadium, yesterday.
Sarwan who was dropped from the national squad a while ago, after a subdued start batted against the wind and hammered eleven fours and five hit over the ropes in his 176 ball stay. Sarwan was also involved in a 94 runs stand for the 5th wicket with Dwyane Bravo who also came up with an impressive knock of 54 runs.
The Kenyan innings began impressively by reaching 2 for 98 in the middle overs, but Roach and Russell came back in their latter spells to send the African nation crashing to 192 all out.
