Data processor released on bail

Chief Magistrate Kandy, Udaya Karalliyadde released a woman computer operator on bail in a case where she has been charged with embezzling salaries of fellow employees of a garment factory through computer manipulation.

The Criminal Investigation Department told ccourt Rs. 4.2 million had been misappropriated by computer data manipulation.

They said there was a discrepancy between the original figures and the data fed into the computer.
Attorney Heshani de Alwis appeared for the suspect. The Chief Magistrate granting bail ordered the suspect to appear before the Commercial Crimes Division of the CID at the end of each month.
