Low in fat and quick to make

It’s all about keeping it quick and keeping it healthy, without compromising on taste. This week, Chef Karnsinee Thirapuncharoj at Cinnamon Lakeside shares three simple recipes with us – each chosen for its easily available ingredients and for its low fat content. Enjoy the tangy aftertaste of the raw mango salad with its strips of tender, green mangoes and crunchy cashew nut (you can opt for peanuts if you prefer, says Chef Thirapuncharoj) when you make it as a starter.

If you don’t have a steamer – now might be the best time to find yourself one. These allow you to explore whole new range of dishes and you can start with the steamed chicken – this light, savoury dish is accompanied with black mushrooms and carrots and works well with steamed rice. If you’d rather use your oven instead –go with the baked garupa. Served whole and decorated with slices of yellow and red capsicum, this spicy dish makes for a lovely centrepiece to your meal.

Don’t forget to work on your presentation – a few artfully cut vegetables can turn your home cooked meal into a masterpiece. Cut shapes or simply fan out carrots or tomatoes and accent with mushrooms wherever appropriate.
