Former All Blacks winger and present Japan Head Coach John Kirwan will be in Sri Lanka with the Japan Rugby Football Team when they take on Sri Lanka in the final game of the HSBC Asian Five Nations Tournament game in Colombo on May 21.
Kirwan who represented the “All Blacks” in 63 Test matches during 1984-1994 played for the Auckland Warriors. He was also a member of the 1987 (Inaugural WC) Rugby World Cup Team. He scored 35 Test tries which was then the New Zealand record. In his entire first class career which ended in 1996, he had finished with 199 tries.
He also accepted to conduct the Train the Trainer Programme on May 22 at 9.00 a.m at the Royal College Sports Complex.
Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) are inviting Coaches from the 'A' Division Clubs and the Division-1, Group A, B & C Schools to attend this training programme.
Meanwhile the last game of the Asian Five Nations Tournament against Japan will be a one sided affair with Japan already got the top slot and will be the sole representative country for the Rugby World Cup from its inception in 1987. The game will kick off at 4.00 pm on May 21 at CR & FC Rugby Grounds. |
