CMA, the National Professional Management Accounting Institute, will hold its annual flagship Management Accountants Conference on June 2- 4 at the Taj Samudra Colombo under the theme ‘CMA’s to Innovate and Drive Value’, the institute said.
Chief Guest at the event is Senior Minister handling International Monetary Affairs, Sarath Amunugama, while the keynote address will be made by Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal. The guest speaker is President of the South Asian Federation of Accountants A.N. Raman. The CMA Business Excellence Awards and the CMA Academic Excellence Awards will be presented at this forum.
Technical sessions will be addressed by the following:
- Sustainable Value Creation: Ronnie Peiris, Finance Director of John Keells Holdings; Ms. Aruni Rajakariar, Country Manager of ACCA Sri Lanka; and Ms. Parveen Mahmud, President of ICA, Bangladesh. This session will be chaired by Hemaka Amarasuriya, Chairman of Singer Sri Lanka.
- Corporate Performance Management and Capital Market: P. Thiruvengadam, Director Management Consultancy Services of Deloittes India; Dinesh Weerakkody, MD of Cornucopia Lanka; Hasitha Premarathne, CFO of Brandix Lanka. This will cover the topics of activity-based costing, flexible remuneration and the capital market.
- Strategic Risk Management and Corporate Governance Strategic Risks: Presented by D.S.W. Andradi, Partner of SJMS Associates; Abdul Kalam Mazumdar, Council Member of ICMA Bangladesh and Dr. Harsha Cabral, Presidents Counsel. This session will cover risk management, exploiting the upside and implications of corporate governance on the corporate world.
- Contemporary Management Accounting: Papers to be presented by Iresha Somarathna, Head of Energy and Environment of Brandix Lanka Ltd; Mohamed Hanif Ajari, Vice President of ICMA Pakistan, and Jayampathy Molligoda, Director Strategic Planning of Bogawantalawa Tea Estates Plc. This session will deal with carbon credit accounting, leveraging supply chain to corporate finance and management accounting for the plantation sector.
- Establishing a Globally Competitive Programme for Management Accountants: Ms. Desley Ward, Manager Education of CPA Australia; Prof. Mangala Fonseka and Nuwan Gunarathna, Accounting Dept. of the Univ. of Sri Jayawardenepura, Ms. Philippa Riley, Directo of BPP Ltd, UK.
- Diversified Roles of Management Accountants: Sanath Fernando, Partner of E&Y; Hassan Bilgrami, President of ICMA Pakistan, and N.R. Gajendran, Partner of Gajma & Co. The session will cover the topics of international financial reporting standards, Islamic Banking and tax planning strategies.
