Southland Girls School Galle clinched the Southern Province Schools Girls Under 19 hockey title defeating Sangamitta Girls School Galle by 2 goals to 1 at the Uyanwatte Stadium in Matara. The championship was conducted by the Sports Unit of the Southern Province Department of Education.
Southland girls emerged Inter-School Provincial champions in 2010 and also won the Southern Province title at the Open Championships in the same year.
“Practicing under trying conditions without a ground of their own the girls have done extremely well,” said their happy Teacher-In-Charge Mrs. Shanthi Subasinghe. “We will do our best to make it three-in-a-row,” she added.
