Who says Monday night has to be boring? If you like some good music, just step down to the Lionel Wendt theatre tomorrow at 7:30pm to hear the De Lanerolle Brothers’ newest presentation – Caipifruta!
“Music itself is borderless and it is the passion to absorb as well as share music that makes it special” says Ryonn Leong, spokesperson for the quartet. Caipifruta! aims simply to “share the joy of music-making with the audience”. “It doesn’t get more personal than a performance utilizing the human voice” Ryonn adds.
The programme will feature the quartet Tracy Wong (soprano), Lai Suk Yin (alto), Aaron
Teoh (tenor) and Joel Wong (baritone), accompanied by jazz pianist Wei Zhong, who share the vision of music as a means of transcending borders. The Brothers also promise to take the stage for a special performance.
The young jazz-pop-Broadway quartet from Malaysia promises that they have something in their repertoire that “resonates with almost any audience.” “As performers, we want to make sure that we do this because we are passionate about it, first and foremost,” continues Ryonn, adding that they wish to encourage a younger audience that “dreams, when invested with a lot of hard work, will become a reality.”
The group is excited to be in the role of musical ambassadors to Sri Lanka, and hope to mirror the goodwill efforts of Rohan De Lanerolle in Malaysia, by visiting and spending time with choirs, singers and music students around Sri Lanka. |
