Grand Oriental Hotel, the oldest hotel in Colombo, will stage an authentic Jaffna Food Festival from the 23 to the 26 June at the hotel’s famous restaurant with an outstanding view, the Harbour Room.
The Jaffna Food Festival will combine a host of famous Jaffna dishes such as Chicken Kolambu, Odiyal Kool, steaming hot Jaffna Crab Curry, in addition to many other authentic Jaffna dishes, says Ruwan Withana, Executive Chef of the GOH . The dishes will be prepared in the traditional manner by experienced cooks, specially brought in from Jaffna for the food festival, he adds.
Jaffna cuisine is famous for its unique flavour and taste. The use of specially prepared Jaffna curry powder and ingredients exclusive to the northern province enhances the dishes and their standing among other kinds of Sri Lankan cuisine. Chef Withana believes that there will be a lot of interest generated about the Jaffna Food Festival.
The Harbour Room of the GOH offers one of the most stunning views in Colombo – combined with fine cuisine at an attractive price, the GOH offers some of the city’s best theme nights. An International Lunch Buffet at a very affordable rate of Rs 1370 all inclusive per head, is held from Monday to Friday.
On Saturdays and Sundays, an A’la carte lunch is available. A Sri Lankan Night is held on Thursdays at Rs 1470 all inclusive per head with oriental music. On Fridays and Saturdays, the Harbour Room offers The International Buffet at Rs 1470 per head all inclusive. The Mixed Grill Night with Sam the Man provides excellent entertainment on Sundays. |
