Pakistan High Commissioner Seema Ilahi Baloch on Thursday handed over a cheque for the construction of the building at Pasyala in Gampaha to the Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat. The school, Babussalam Maha Vidyalaya, comes under the purview of the Education zone of Minuwangoda.
The work for the construction of the school project is continuing with swift progress and the project is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Minister Rajapaksa appreciated Pakistan's support and cooperation for a noble cause.
"The civilization links between two peoples and cultures date back 2500 years, to the time when the Indus and Gandhara civilizations and Budhist culture had prospered in what is now Pakistan. Both countries have made impressive efforts to preserve and build on these solid foundations.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in 1948, the two countries have consistently maintained a close, cordial and mutually supportive relationship," a high commission statement said. |
