Surendra sings Jothipala

By Sanath Weerasuriya

Popular heartthrob Surendra Perera of Sirasa Super Star fame is this week’s TV Times’ ‘Star of The Week’.

TV Times together with M Entertainment and Vibrations bring weekly ‘Star of The Week’ competition featuring a singing sensation. Each week we introduce a singing star, a popular figure in the Lankan music scene or a latest music album of a popular star to our readers. TV Times readers can now win two brand new albums of the particular star, featured on the TV Times, with the compliments of the Vibrations, your favourite music store. All you have to do is to read the story of the ‘Star of The Week’ and answer the simple question on the coupon.

‘Vibrations’, one of the popular music stores in the city, is the main sponsor of this competition along with the M Entertainments. All answers should be on the coupon No. 5 appearing on today’s TV Times and no photo copies are accepted. The two lucky winners of the Coupon No. 5 will win two ‘Me Jeewanaye’ CDs of Surendra.

The names of the lucky winners of the Coupon No. 5 will be announced in the TV Times of 24 July. Surendra Perera is an artiste whose name has become more than common in any Sri Lankan household. Surendra began his musical career after being placed second in the coveted title of Sirasa Super Star, and since then he has not looked back.

Being placed second, many did not expect Surendra’s inception in the music industry to flourish the way it has. It has been just over two years since the release of his ever popular debut album ‘Vahi Pabulu’, and he shows no signs of slowing down.

Currently Surendra’s material has sold over 20,000 units, island wide, and his second album is bound to reach greater heights. Surendra’s second solo album ‘Me Jeewanaye’, which was released earlier this week consists of some of the most popular and sought after songs of the legend H.R. Jothipala himself. The single ‘Diya Kinduriya Se’, which was reproduced by Surendra and made even more popular in an era after Jothipala has shown the magnitude of this artiste’s capabilities.

The winners of the coupon No. 3 are Gayathrika Wijesiri of No 79/ 11, Pitakanda Road, Kandy and Kiki Wilson of No. 40/4 A, Shramadana Mawatha, Ethukala, Negombo. Congrates! Vibrations will get in touch with you soo.
