Aug 26 SLASSCOM workshop for all IT faculty of state regional universities

The Sri Lanka Association of Software and Service Companies (SLASSCOM) has announced that it will be holding a one-day workshop for IT faculty members from all state regional universities on August 26, 2011, to discuss developing "curricula to enhance student learning that also meets the needs of the workforce."

Also indicated by SLASSCOM, "Vice Chancellors and heads of IT Departments of all state universities together with leading members from the IT industry will be invited to take part in the workshop." The chief guest for the event will be Dr. Sunil J Nawaratne, Secretary to the Ministry of Higher Education.

Further, SLASSCOM also stated that this is a programme under its directlink industry academia network, which is working towards employment opportunities for the next generation, while at the same time also standardising all IT programmes at state regional universities. This was, it said, in line with meeting its target of US$1 billion in revenue and employment to over 100,000 by 2015.
