Don disappointed

God father, who ran the citadel for most of the post cup era before he was deposed, is making plans for his third coming. He recently had summoned some of his former accolades who kept him afloat for the good part of a score at the Citadel for a meeting. Alas! For his utter disappointment -- from the fifty odd individuals that he had invited for the working sessions for the next elections only around five had made their appearance. Knowing the Don he would not give up. He will sell any of his horses to attain his goal.

Dandi and the casket
Dandi of the Citadel, who got famous with his ticket gimmicks for the big games, had made his appearance at the funeral. While he was there seated there was an old lady inquiring from another individual about caskets. Without any hesitations this individual had pointed his finger at Dandi and said “This is the person who knows everything about caskets because he is the one who is responsible for putting the game in one after the big one, just ask him how he did it”. Amidst this Dandi made a hasty retreat.

Fear of losing
A cricket final is a thing that two teams have fought and strived for to be in during the entire season. Two such women’s teams entered the final. One was strong and the other not so strong. But the strong team had doubts about winning. So the entire team trooped to a place of worship. They were seen offering their deity offerings so that they could win. Win they did, but the fuss they made before the final is the thing that is being talked about now.

No vision
There is this talkative big guy at a leading sport directing spot who is going around saying that they have used only eleven percent of the total that is being given to encourage sports. However there are others who say that this lot does not know how to manage funds and that they have no vision. What happens now is that the monies that that they have hoarded will be sent back to the kitty.

That wrong decision
One of our leading cricketers was given out at a day/night game recently. However the men in the know claim that it was a wrong decision. The decision should have been given by the Leg Umpire but when they consulted the Umpire concerned he said that it was a ‘No Ball’. The opposing team who were flabbergasted by these actions has now petitioned the authorities concerned about this decision.

Splitting into two?
There is trouble brewing down Chilaw way for having sold a leading cricket club. The talk doing the rounds is that this particular club has been sold for 13 million and five million has already been paid as an advance. Now there are indications that the club may split into two. One side is in favour of the club being sold and the other side is against it. Before all this the club was doing extremely well at local tournaments and now all their efforts may all be in vain.

Underarm
The scene shifts to a key women’s cricket game. The game was shifted to a venue favoured by a certain cricketing lady. However when the game was in progress it rained cats and dogs. This lady who was very keen to see that her side wins was even heard shouting, “bowl even underarm to finish the overs so that our side can win.”

Not suitable
Two big shots in a leading sport are working on being match referees. This is not good for the sport as they are both from the same body and could harm the workings of the sport’s controlling body. They say that both are, however, not suitable for the job.

Under 18 rugby predicament
Generally when a junior team that comprises schoolboys is to go abroad, it is customary that that it is mainly handled by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Sport. So the custodians of sport had gone through the proper channels and got an individual with the right credentials. But, to the disappointment of the authorities another individual who was eyeing this tour to man of Isle had gone to the main body and told them that they must not spend any money from the system if he is not sent on this tour.

Now persons of the system have spoken to the man who was originally elected and told him that if he intends making the trip he will also have to find the expenses for the tour within the sources who nominated him. Now the confused official had pulled out from the tour and told them to do as they like to make a tour a success.

White van
What’s Common with the Oval ball and the White van? At Hpark it was the brothers reminding not only the refa hora but the players too. It is getting too tough said a player who thinks he has a few more years to enjoy life.

Mutt and Jeff
It was a score that talked about Gun the Rat and his foul mouth. It now seem that many are calling the CHEE EEE OHHH the mutt without Jeff.
