Shaleeka Abeygunasekera is a member of the academic staff of Wycherley International School, Colombo 7. She is a graduate holding a First Class Honours Degree in Pure Mathematics from Queen Mary & Westfield College, University of London, and a Masters Degree in Decision Sciences from the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London. At Wycherley she is an energetic member of the staff of the senior school and the Staff Advisor in charge of the Interact Club. She has a wide experience, having worked in the United Kingdom as well as in Sri Lanka.
Shaleeka has been a Little Friend, a President’s Guide, a Senior Guide, and a Guide Leader. Since 1996, she has started and run Little Friends’ packs and Guide companies in various schools in Colombo, including the Little Friends’ pack at Wycherley International School. Shaleeka has been a Director of the Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association and was the Association’s candidate for the World Board of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), to which position she was successfully elected at the 34th World Conference of WAGGGS held in July in Edinburgh, Scotland.
In addition to her work with the Guide Movement, Shaleeka has been a volunteer with the Make-A-Wish Foundation in London which supports the families of terminally ill children.
