An Academy with a special touch focused on producing professionally qualified Teachers and Caregivers to nurture World Class Citizens, the brainchild and vision of Mrs. Geetha Kaduwela, who made it a reality on her return from Australia armed and qualified in this specialized field. The name ‘Mother’s Touch ‘itself gives the warmth and simplicity associated with reaching out to a child.
She foresaw the dearth and understood the crying need and demand for professional ‘ Care Givers ‘ and Quality Day care facilities and Teacher Training in Sri Lanka and overseas. Her Mission was to protect children and ensure their safety, health and nutrition with education through a stress free environment, inculcating joy and independence in the individual child in their early childhood while fostering the uniqueness of every child.
It is her fervent desire to convey this important message to all Mothers of infants and young children, especially with career based parents and single parents needing assistance, which convinced her that she with her qualifications and experience was in an ideal position to contribute to this dire need of professional care giving.
Geetha started her first ‘Child care and Teacher Training Diploma Program‘in 2005 in humble beginnings to a small group of individuals. Nostalgically reflecting on the past 5 years she proudly mentions of the many students that have passed through her hands and many of them having left the country to further their studies or for overseas employment.
Another specialty at ‘Mother’s Touch ‘ is the Early Childhood Development and preschool program with two and a half to six year olds in mind to assist them to adjust smoothly to a school environment. Her belief is that children should learn through play and that’s exactly how her programs are formulated inculcating educational aids, toys and outdoor activities designed to achieve this balance.
In recognition of the high standards and training methodology at ‘ Mother’s Touch ‘ her institute was accepted by the ‘ National Tertiary and Vocational Training Commission ( TVEC ), Australian Qualification Framework (AQF), further recognized by “ City and Guilds “ of the United Kingdom and the Waiariki Institute of Technology in New Zeland has offered one year exemption in the Bachelors Degree Level 7 which certainly is an added value to the Diploma Certificates on offer. She attributes her success in the academic field to her qualified, motivated and creative staff who are committed to providing quality programs and care.
As a result many students have been able to gain employment in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, New Zealand, USA and Middle Eastern Countries with British based Curriculum.
What is also worthy of mentioning is that Geetha is hands on in her chosen field and available to discuss any matter concerning the Centre, or you’re Child as her emphasis is always that a child’s happiness is primary to their development. |
