These wandering gypsies originally from the Andarabedda area of Galgamuwa in the Kurunegala district are tired of their traditional way of life and long for a permanent roof over their heads.
The group's leader R. Sunil says although some houses were built for them in the 1980's their families have grown in numbers and the houses are too small.
"We would like to settle down and live in one place, but instead we carry our tents and wander from place to place, making a living by snake charming, performing monkey tricks and fortune-telling," he said.
Here they are seen in Chilaw.
