Applications closed on September 7, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) announced this week of its Best Corporate Citizen Award for 2011 with all eyes now on the event slated for November 4 and the winners.
The annual awards are aimed at promoting Strategic Corporate Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) among the Sri Lankan business sector. The Chamber Secretariat also announced that from this year onwards the panel has decided to incorporate areas in the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) as part of the review process, thereby further improving the coverage of the award.
This year too the organization will recognize outstanding CSR projects undertaken by private/public sector (government) entities in a vast range of activities. Thus, five best CSR projects will be awarded while all projects that have achieved a high standard will receive certificates of merit, the CCC said. |
