Ayubovan Tea: New brand launched

Exporters of Tea – Asia Tea (Pvt) Ltd launched “Ayubovan Tea” to be released to the local market indicating that it would be of a top-most export quality but sold at current market prices.
The launch this week took place in Colombo with singer Willie Fernando appointed the brand ambassador for Ayubowan Tea.

Sirimal Dabarera, Director, Asia Tea said that the product would be marketed with a heavy ‘local product’ concept to capture a considerable market share penetrating into the present local market. When the Business Times asked whether local consumers are skilled enough to search the best quality and the cheapest price, irrespective of whether the product is local or foreign, Ken Ratwatte, Managing Director, Asia Tea assured that the local consumer could taste the best export quality tea at the current market price.

Mr Ratwatte said they do not see anything wrong in blending imported teas with the local tea and export the mix because it has the advantage of competing in the global market. He also said that introduction of Herbal Tea would not have any impact on the normal tea market and said that consumption of herbal teas have health gains, for instance like say singer or cinnamon has particular health vitalizing agents. Nevertheless he said that normal teas produced in Sri Lanka and around the world too are healthy.
