This falls in line with the International Standards Day and the National Quality Week in 2012.
With this convention there will be a number of pre and post conference seminars on topics such as benchmarking, six sigma by intentionally recognized experts and also few industry visits for participants to be familiarized with situations where these techniques are practiced. It is expected that around 200 foreign delegates will attend the convention, according to SLAQ President Dr. Srilal de Silva.
As a preparation for the 18th APQO conference, the APQO flag was handed over to the SLAQ at the 17th Convention held in Singapore recently. After Sri Lanka the 2013 conference will move to Canada who will take over the APQO flag in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka is one of the very few countries who had an opportunity to hold a APQO Conference more than once while many countries are still to hold at least once, indicating the recognition of SLAQ contribution for the quality improvement at international level.
“These quality conferences bring in expertise from different regions of the globe to share their experience through plenary and conference sessions and also networking among the participants. Many studies on impact of quality techniques and also the experiences of those who had achieved business excellence through the use of these quality instruments will be openly discussed in these sessions for participants to make use of this information for business improvement,” Dr de Silva says.
The theme for the conference is ‘Sustainable Economic Growth and Business Excellence through Quality, Environment & Safety’ and the current situation and the progress made in Asia Pacific Region will be given due priority during the conference sessions. |
