Former St. Sylvester’s and Kandy SC player now turned referee Aruna Rankothge will blow at the Goa Rugby Sevens which will be worked off in India on 19 & 20 November.
This is the last in the HSBC Asian Series tournament which is a yard stick to pick the first 6 sides for the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens which will be worked off at Cause Way Bay in Hong Kong in 2012 March.
Rankothge who is an Asian Rugby Football Union (ARFU) Elite ‘A’ panel referee will pair off with Dharmapala Nimal who too will handle the whistle in this tournament. Dilroy Fernando will be the Referee Performance Reviewer for this tournament in India. Rankothge has more than 16 years referring experience locally and internationally.
He has officiated in Singapore, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Arabian Gulf, Hong Kong South Korea, Philippines and India. Locally he did officiate at the Singer Sri Lankan Sevens, Carlton Sevens and HSBC Asian Five Nations Tournament on number of occasions. His Last assignment locally was at the Carlton Super Seven Series in Kandy and Colombo. In the first leg in Kandy he officiated in the Finals between Southern Sharks and Central Kings. |
