Ramesh Mendis with an all-round performance guided Dharmasoka to their first outright victory of the Under 19 inter-school cricket tournament. Ramesh’s 59 and match figures of 6 for 28 helped Dharmasok to record an easy innings and 23 runs win over Zahira at Maradana yesterday.
The morning session of the second day’s play saw Zahira resuming from their overnight score of 87 for 8 making 115 with right arm pacie Yohan Rashmika ending with impressive figures of 5 for 28. He was supported by Chamath Kavinda who finished 3 wickets for 17.
Dharmasoka in their turn guided by Ramesh, who made 59 with seven boundaries and a six and two useful knocks coming from Adeesha Dilanja and Udith Tharaka, made 227.
At the BRC ground right arm pacie Charith Rajapakse and left arm spinner Sineth Mallawaarachchi steered Isipathana to a comfortable first inning win over Lumbini MV in their Under 19 inter-school cricket match at the BRC grounds yesterday.
Charith and Sineth shared seven wickets between them to bundle out Lumbini MV to a lowly 98. At Maradana.
