Ceylon Continental Hotel shut from Feb. to Oct 2012 for renovation

Colombo’s Ceylon Continental Hotel on Tuesday said the 5-start property will be closed for a Rs 1.8 billion-worth refurbishment from February 2 to October 2012. Hotel Services PLC, part of the Hayleys Group, said the development will transform the property into a fully refurbished 229-room hotel, making it one of the best 5 -star hotels in Colombo.

In a statement to the Colombo Stock Exchange, the hotel said as part of the refurbishment, the rooms will be completely revamped. The lobby and main entrance will also be renovated to a grander scale with an impressive entrance gallery and lobby lounge with sea views.

“Another area of the hotel that will be changing quite dramatically is the pool area which will now feature an infinity edged swimming pool that would give the illusion of it projecing into the vast ocean.”
An added feature is the highly anticipated Sky Bar, at the roof top.
