Top golfers on show at Asia Pacific Golf Masters

Arrangements have been made possible to host the SriLankan Airlines’ Asia Pacific Senior Golf Masters 2012 which will tee off at the picturesque Rajawella golf links in Kandy on February 15. Over 90 golfers, 60 professionals and 30 amateurs, which include a brand of leading local golfers, can be seen in action during the three-day event at the Victoria Golf and Country Resort.

The participants will take on the 18-hole turf which is spread over 200 hectares with a breathtaking view of the Victoria reservoir.

The championship is organised in collaboration with International Golf Solutions and the tournament is another initiative of SriLankan Airlines who innovated some of phenomenal sporting events to be held in the country.

The tournament has so far attracted participants from countries in the South Asian sub-continent, Scandinavia, Middle East and the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland, China and Hong Kong.

The national carrier hopes to take Sri Lanka to the world and seek to promote the pearl island as a multi-attraction destination offering discerning golfers a destination beyond just golden beaches, misty mountains and cultural heritage.

SriLankan Airlines has over the years promoted Sports tourism in the country by sponsoring many events that focus on the destination; these being mainly Golf, Pro-Surfing and International Sevens Rugby.

The event will enable players and golf lovers the opportunity to take a quick trip on SriLankan Air taxi service that currently ferries passengers to Kandy via touch points at Polgolla and Victoria.
