The Western Band Development Committee of the Colombo South International College has organized a “Magic Show” as a fund raising project to procure additional equipments for the College Band.
This lively exhilarating magic show will be presented by the well known and renowned Magician – Mr. Sambuddhika Rathnayake and his team on 1st March 2012 at Colombo South International College Auditorium with two school shows ( 9.30 am and 2:30 pm) and a public show at 6.30 pm.
The main sponsorship for the shows is granted by the British College of Business Studies and the media sponsorship by Max Television. We request all our past pupils, parents and well wishes to join in hands to reach the targets of our students and make this event a great success. Back in the 19th Century one Lady had an idea of starting a school for kids, which eventually became her passion and consuming dream transforming to reality. CSI had from recent times bloomed with approximately the student population of 1500 to become one of the fully fledged International schools in Colombo. The main objective of this valued academic institution is to provide quality education to the children and devoted to bring up children with a complete personality and prepare for EDEXCEL and Local Examinations with the total commitment and dedication of around 77 Staff strength. The College has been able to achieve high academic excellence for the time of inception have been creating a very high demand for admission from other Nationalities. Owing to the generous education that may have received for a mere song it was a pristine privilege that was taken for granted while producing many brilliant students who secured excellent results in world ranks. Hiran Perera – First in the Island for GCE (O/L) Edexcel in 2002, Udara Punchihewa – 1st in the world – GCE (O/L) London Sinhala Edexcel in 2005, Rashmi Ruth Yalagala - 1st in the world - Accounting ( 600 marks out of 600 ) at GCE (A/L) Edexcel London in 2010, Dulanja Ranasinghe – Accounting Unit II ( 300 marks out of 300 ) at GCE (A/L) Edexcel London in 2011.
The Board of Directors ahs proposed to construct an extension to the existing building to facilitate more space for students of CSIC contributing to raise funds in many ways to uplift the existing condition and add more luster to the school.
The long expected dream of the Board of Directors after 20 years of its inception soon became a reality by adding an Auditorium with its full wigs to accommodate nearly 700 guests on the topmost floor of the main building on 5th Floor and now the College is fortunate to have its own ceremonies / functions in the College premises itself.
The school which initially started as the Montessori, headed by Mrs. Grashanthi Wijekulartne was supported by Mrs. Marie Silva who is the present Directress of the same. The Primary school with a handful of blooming buds appearing declared an International School catering with four dedicated teachers at the beginning. Since then the College has proudly produced to date many exceptional personalities beginning with the first Scholar – Randi Wijekulartne who is a Medical Practitioner in USA from 2010, finishing her MBBS Examination at the age of 21 and obtaining a Degree of Dr. of Medicine at the age of 24 yrs. Spreading popularity around the globe with a few exceptional cases became the world renowned personalities. Recently, Udara Punchihewa achieved top most results at the Curtin University Perth – B.Com Degree in the Commerce and Accounts, and offered an honorary Degree in 2011.
With the launching of Departments in several denominations of English, Science, Commerce with outstanding improvements every year school participated the Model UNO Conference held in high esteem by Ananda College paved the way for the scholars to show their talents from 2007, for three consecutive years, to face the new concept which despite barriers of race, culture, religion bring together and unites the entire islands in the true spirit of brotherhood. English Department further launched young speaker’s Club.
Sport Management had also made it easier to network with other National and International schools in the city from the beginning in the early years 2002 which brought grand honour to the College. College excelled in all types of sports in the province with many victories. This can be beneficial both in the long and short term, offering students a chance to be competitive and collaborate and learn from a variety of different projects of relevance in the sports field.
Counseling is also done by Senior Teachers who have been successful in solving student’s practical problems, scenarios for them to address.
Yet another fascinating feature has ahead as the girls and boys guide an scout corps brought fame to the school for several years, obtaining places during the past years and showed their talents at the Girl Guide’s Association and Boy’s Scout Association, under the guidance of the Teachers In-Charge, the Computer Lab has helped the students to gain hands on experience in their chosen fields and it could enhance both their educational and professional resume.
More and more clubs have been formed lately to in spite the talents and abilities of the students.

A characteristic feature of the College that baffled us is offering generous help to many schools in the aftermath of the Tsunami Disaster. The Buddhist Society has made a tremendous contribution to the affairs of the school and carry out s great service.
Students of CSI have their faiths and never a day left without morning meditation and prayers as well as religious programmes, festivities in grand scale on their specific holy days, as Buddhist’s Hindus, Islamic and Christians.
