The Musaeus College Under-15 hockey team won the All-Island Inter-School Hockey Championship defeating St. Anthony’s Girls School Kandy by 2-0 in the finals played at the Albert F. Peiris Stadium in Wennappuwa recently. Skipper Dinithi Sathyapla and centre-forward Lithma Kumaradasa scored goals for the winners. In the semi-final Museaus beat Seethadevi Balika Vidyalaya by 3-1 after overcoming Vishaka Vidyalaya by 3-2 in the quarterfinal by penalties. In group matches they trounced Girls High School, Kandy by 8-0 and St. Joseph Girls School by 6-0 before recording wins against Kalutara Balika Vidyalaya (1-0), Pushpadana Girls’ School Kandy (3-0) and Sangamitta Balika Vidyalaya Matale (2-0). |
