Anithya: Tale on Eternal love

Young playwright and teleplay director, Nalaka Withana begins a new journey as a filmmaker with ‘Anithya’ (Eternal Love), a realistic love story set in capital Colombo. Nalaka’s movie also marks the entrance of new producers including Nuwan Weliwita, Kosala Tantula, Chinthaka Ranaweera and Haren Nagodawithana.

Screenplay written, directed and co-produced by Withanage the film is based in contemporary Colombo where a young couple meets during an most unexpected moment. Milan is in a totally desperate state of mind when he finds his beloved Chethana is dead, while she was continuing her higher education abroad.

Fate doesn’t leave him with his choice, rather has a slower drastic heartbreak awaiting! That’s where he bumps into Kaushi with a similar life taking situation-for both this was withdrawn making them close friends living together a new life a new chapter yet not complete. Fresh face Imraan who is playful, young, a carefree fun lover indulges in blooming sessions with Kaushi making her love for him exclusive, where as for Imraan she is just another girl.

Envy in Milan’s eyes grows for Kaushi’s and Imraan’s hidden affair, whilst trying to prove Imraan’s unfaithfulness to Kaushi is just a waste, not wanting to believe this Kaushi goes on pleasing Imraan until Milan finds out a phase of shock both for Kaushi and himself, where he sees his false perished girl friend Chethana with Imraan preparing for a wedding none other than their own.

Delivering this painful experience to Kaushi creates a hoax still not making Kaushi withdraw her love for Imraan, for she knows her destiny is shorter but desires to live for love . Kaushi wants to make her passion for love live more knowing her destiny is shorter than the rest.

The story clad of a deep romantic, dramatic yet youthful manner cladding each of them in true phases of youth life. With four new faces the film’s cast is comprised of Wishwa Lanka, Manik Wijewardena, Krishani Alanki Perera, Udith Abeyratne, Sangeetha Weerrarathna, Roger Senewirathna, Bandula Withanage and Gunawardhana Hettiarachchi.

The technical team joined in ‘Anithya’ are art director Rohana Hewawitharana, music Buddika Sri Kahawala and editor Eshan Motagedara and director of photography P. Balasooriya.
Lyrics for ‘Anithay’ is by Malick Perera, Kasun Kankanamge while production manager is Iroshan Buddhika and makeup by Nimal Rajapaksha.

Nalaka’s director debut Nalaka entered direction with ‘Raathri Bhojanaya’ which is the Sinhala version of the British comedy play ‘Don’t Dress for Dinner’ translated by Bandula Vithanage. He later presented the play ‘Kaasimalla’ as his second production and went on to produce ‘Breaking News’ in 2009 showcasing the horrid handshake between politics and media.

The playwright entered miniscreen by directing “Dekona Gini”, “I love Jenny” and “Allapu Gedara” for Swarnavahini and “My Sweet Stanley” for Max TV.
