Our cover girl this week is lovely Natasha Fernando who won the Miss Talent title at the Miss Working Girl contest held on March 27. Natasha was photographed during the pageant at the Oberoi by Mettasena. The second runner-up in the Miss Working Girl contest was Rozanne Diaz and not Rozanne Fernando as inadvertently reported last week. |

Accidental Death of an AnarchistStageLight&Magic Inc., the company which gave English theatre viewers the high-tech "Julius Caesar - The Anatomy of an Assassination" in 1997 and the emotion-filled "Widows" in 1998 will stage Dario Fo's comedy "Accidental Death of an Anarchist" in May this year. The play follows the fortunes (or rather misfortunes!) of four policemen trying to cover up the death of a suspected bomber while under interrogation at their station. Add to this a maniac arrested on charges of impersonation, who decides to re-open the investigation and an extremely curious journalist, and you have all the ingredients of a fast-paced action-filled farce! The play has been adapted from the original and is set entirely in Sri Lanka. Some of the references made to modern Sri Lankan society and to some recent events in our country make it a totally hilarious piece of theatre. Leading the energetic group of actors on the cast of "Accidental Death" is Mohammed Adamaly. Fondly referred to as "Adam" he has been in the forefront of English theatre for quite some years. Ifaz Bin Jameel, whom audiences will remember for his fantastic multi-role playing in "Widows" will play the part of the maniac. Anuruddha Fernando, Michelle Perera, Jehan Bastians & Asanka Ariyachandra form the rest of the cast which is a classic combination of youth and experience. The play will be directed by Feroze Kamardeen, and produced by StageLight&Magic Inc. "Accidental Death of an Anarchist" is scheduled to go on the boards of the Lionel Wendt theatre from May 5- 9 . The play is being sponsored by Keells Super Crescat, who also sponsored "Widows" in 1998. TNL Radio and TNL Lite, have also joined the production as the electronic media sponsors. Media Solutions, the company which co-ordinated the high-tech multi media wizardry of "Julius Caesar" are the multi media provider and The Sunday Times will once again be the Official Newspaper for the production.
