This Vesak, Amaya Resorts & Spas brought together the essence of compassion, generosity and unity through heartfelt celebrations across its properties in Dambulla, Kandy and Pasikudah. In keeping with the spirit of the occasion, all three resorts hosted traditional Dansal during the morning hours, followed by the illumination of Vesak pandols in the evening.
Each Dansala radiated a warm and welcoming atmosphere, drawing both in-house guests and members of the surrounding communities. The air was filled with a sense of togetherness and joy, as people came together to partake in a cherished tradition. These simple yet heartfelt initiatives fostered meaningful connections between the resorts and their communities, beautifully reflecting the true essence of Vesak.
As night fell, each property came alive with stunning Vesak Pandol displays that combined tradition with innovation. True to Amaya’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, the Pandols were created using mostly biodegradable, repurposed and natural materials. At Amaya Lake, the Pandols incorporated items such as discarded cardboard, used wires and motors, plastic bottles, gunny bags, activated carbon and coconut shells, transforming waste into artistic expression. A special Pandol from Amuna Ayurveda and Wellness Retreat was also featured, crafted entirely from mud, dry leaves and gunny bags, representing Amuna’s nature-centric philosophy.
At Amaya Beach, the coastal Pandol was a creative assembly of 100% biodegradable materials, including discarded linen, coconut leaves, cardboard, gunny cloth, onion peels and used paper tissues. In the hill capital of Kandy, Amaya Hills presented elaborate and intricate Pandols made from bamboo leaves, coir rope, tree bark, kithul strips, areca flowers, discarded bed linen, cardboard and iron rods, among other natural elements. These creations stood as more than just decorative structures, but as meaningful symbols of mindful hospitality and environmental awareness.
Across all three locations, the Vesak celebrations at Amaya Resorts & Spas served as heartfelt tributes to the occasion. By merging cultural heritage with sustainable practice, the brand reaffirmed its dedication to community engagement, spiritual reflection and environmental responsibility. Through light, compassion and unity, Amaya Resorts and Spas celebrated Vesak in a way that was not only beautiful but also deeply meaningful.
