Auction offerings this week declined at the Colombo tea auction and totalled 5.2 million kg, Forbes and Walker tea brokers stated in their weekly market report. The concerning factor it was noted would be the quantum of fresh teas on offer totalling 4.6 million kg.
The market was stronger in general, perhaps triggered by the restricted availability. Final invoices of the Uva seasonal BOP/BOPFs sold this week with prices ranging between Rs.2400 – 2900 per kg and Rs.1800 – 1900 per kg respectively.
There was improved demand for teas at the lower end as well. (SD)
