The Colombo Tea Auction had 5.19 million kg of tea on offer this week with 2.19 million kg being Low Grown Main Grades and 1.77 million kg of High and Mid Grown Main Grades.
There was good general demand in the Ex-Estate catalogues and prices remained steady despite the Sri Lankan Rupee strengthening against the US Dollar.
Select Best Western BOPs were dearer on special inquiry; others were irregularly lower upto Rs.100 per kg. Some high priced Uva BOPs of last week lost Rs.100 and more; others declined Rs.50 to Rs.100.
In the Low Grown Leafy and Semi leafy catalogues select best BOP1s and OP1s gained substantially whilst improved below best varieties too were fully firm to selectively dearer. (SD)

Litro Gas Lanka has announced plans to slash the prices of gas with effect from midnight tomorrow (June 04), according to the Chairman and CEO of Litro Gas Lanka Ltd Muditha Peiris.
The Minister of Power and Energy, Kanchana Wijesekera said that action would be taken against the fuel shed owners who did not place orders from May 27 to 31, 2023 in view of the fuel price review.
