Tea Auction saw 5 million kg on offer
The Colombo Tea Auction had 5.04 million kg of tea on offer this week with 2.05 million kg of Low Grown Main Grades and 1.87 million kg of High and Mid Grown Main Grades, the Asia Siyaka market report stated.
In the Leafy and Semi Leafy catalogues Select Best OP1/BOP1s maintained, whilst best varieties too were generally firm; below best sorts were marginally easier, whilst poorer sorts maintained.
There was less demand at this week’s Ex-Estate auction with very few high priced seasonal Western BOP/BOPFs attracting special inquiry; other Westerns were lower upto Rs.100. Nuwara Eliya’s were mostly unsold. In the Small Leaf catalogues Select best FBOPs maintained, whilst corresponding FBOPF1s were easier. Best/below best FBOPs maintained, whilst corresponding FBOPF1s were easier. Teas at the lower end maintained. In the Premium Flowery catalogues well- made tippy teas appreciated. (SD)
