Dialog Enterprise, the corporate solutions arm of Dialog Axiata PLC, as the first initiative under its DigiEdu Model School programme, partnered with Gateway College to launch ‘InnovaThon 2021’. The novel social innovation competition was organised by the DigiEdu and IdeaMart teams at Dialog Axiata PLC and attracted 800+ students from over 200 teams across the five Gateway Colleges in Colombo, Kandy and Negombo.
These 200+ teams contested under four categories, namely, World Citizenship, Best Gaming Application, Most Innovative Idea and Best Female Team. After four months of intense competition, 12 teams were chosen for the finals, and four teams for the grand finale. The grand finale was held as a hybrid event, where contesting students were physically present at the Dialog Auditorium while the audience, comprising teachers, parents and other students, joined via a livestream broadcast on social media, Dialog said in a media release.
The finale also saw the Overall Championship and Most Popular Teams being selected, based on the adjudication of a three-judge panel along with online votes by the audience. The winners from Gateway College will now be eligible to participate at National and International App Challenges in the future.
