Goldi Sands Negombo celebrates New Year with guests and festive traditions

Traditional Sinhala and Hindu New Year was celebrated at Goldi Sands Hotel Negombo on 13 April 2026, bringing together both Sri Lankan and international guests for a day filled with tradition, colour and cultural festivity.

The event was held with the participation of Chairman Eric Suriyasena, Joint Managing Director Ninesh Suriyasena, and General Manager Lal Dissanayake, along with the hotel team and several invited guests.

Guests were treated to a vibrant lineup of traditional Avurudu games and activities, creating a lively and authentic cultural experience for all attendees. Visitors from countries such as Germany, the UK and Australia joined Sri Lankans in the celebrations, fully immersing themselves in the spirit and customs of the traditional Avurudu.

The festivities concluded with a grand buffet lunch featuring a variety of traditional and international cuisine, leaving all in attendance with memorable experiences and a deeper appreciation of Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage.
