Ceylon Tea January production figures indicate a marginal drop of 1.6 per cent compared to last year amounting to total production at 22.8 million kg.
Broker Asia Siyaka reported a strong performance from High Growns that is said to have boosted the national January production. High Growns recorded 5.4 million kg up by 12 per cent compared to last year and is almost 1 million kg more than December that achieved 4.5 million kg.
Low Growns recorded 13.4 million kg production figures sharply lower 10 per cent than last year but up on the December quantity of 12.7 million kg.
Mediums were 3.8 million kg that are higher compared to last year and more than the December figure of 3.2 million kg.
