Prices stabilise at Colombo tea auction

Business

The Colombo Tea Auction this week has recorded a greater degree of stability in demand and prices amidst speculation of an Iran – Israeli ceasefire. The ceasefire occurred after the auction was held.

The Forbes and Walker tea market report stated that a select range of better Western BOP/BOPF’s appreciated by Rs.50 per kg.

There was slightly better activity for teas at the lower end of the liquoring category.

A general improvement in demand for large leaf teas was also evident at the auction this week. But unsold volumes continue to be high, the report stated. (SD)
