Viber, one of the world’s leading apps for free and easy communication, has launched the all-new Viber Lens in Sri Lanka.
Teaming up with Snap Inc., the tech company behind Snapchat, Viber is adding augmented reality (AR) to its in-app camera with the first batch of its Viber Lenses—30 camera filters such as animal masks, fantasy effects, Bitmoji avatars, and users’ favorite Viber characters.
These fun features will definitely inject some playfulness to chats with family and friends. Viber Lens is easy to use by simply launching Viber’s camera within chats and picking a lens. Users can take a snap or a clip and send to get the fun times started, the company said in a media release.
Showing supporting for important issues or even your favorite sports team, users can select branded lenses from partners such as World Health Organization, World Wildlife Fund, and FC Barcelona.
“By implementing this technology, Viber Lens helps empower our user’s creativity in making simple communication more entertaining and vivid. It gives them more freedom on how they relay their thoughts and feelings to whoever they’re talking to, all while having a little fun,” says Rakuten Viber Senior Director for APAC David Tse. “With this partnership with Snap’s most advanced AR capabilities, we’re excited to usher in a new way of messaging while keeping true to our commitment to high security standards for all messages, video, and images sent over the app.”
