Ceylon tea saw a marginal increase in production numbers in May this year at 25.4 million kg compared to 24.6 million kg in May 2024, Asia Siyaka Market report stated.
All three elevations recorded gains with High at 5.96 million kg, a plus 3.8 per cent on the 5.75 million kg last year. Similarly, Mediums was up 10.3 per cent of 5.07 million kg and Low Growns a plus 0.2 per cent of 14.33 million kg YOY.
Cumulatively, production was 8.7 per cent above last year with approximately 114 million kg compared with approximately 105 million kg last year.
High at 26.2 million kg, a 13.9 per cent gain YOY, Medium quantity of 21.7 million kg, a sharp 14.8 per cent gain, and Low Growns, a 5 per cent more at 66 million kg. (SD)
