Mainly Low Grown Main Grades were on offer at the Colombo Tea Auction this week where volumes continued to fall with only 4.78 million kg on sale.
The Low Growns met with fair demand. In the Leafy grade catalogues select best liquoring OP1s sold at lower rates, whilst below best and others were firm, the market report by Asia Siyaka stated.
Most FBOP/FBOPF1s sold at dearer rates. Stylish FBOPFs sold at last week’s levels, whilst below best and others lost out in value. BOP/BOPFs met with good demand and sold at dearer rates.
There was fair general demand in the Ex-Estate catalogues. Best Western BOPs were firm to irregularly dearer; others generally held last levels. A range of best Western BOPFs were firm; others were irregularly lower by Rs.50 and at times more. Better Nuwara Eliya BOP/BOPFs were firm.
Udapussellawa BOPs eased in value. Select BOPFs moved up on special inquiry; others were lower. Medium BOP/BOPFs were generally firm A few CTC BP1s held at last week’s levels; others were firm. High priced PF1s declined sharply by Rs.200 to Rs.300 and at times more; others declined by Rs.100 to Rs.200. (SD)
