Central Bank to announce today latest economic trends
Central Bank (CB) Governor Arjuna Mahendran has called a media briefing at 6 pm today (Thursday) in Colombo to discuss the ‘state of the economy’. No other details were given in the media announcement by the CB.
Bankers and economists said it is expected to contain an assessment of the economy, critical and positive areas, plans to seek IMF funding and sourcing funds from the Middle East and China, among other issues. – Ends -

SLAF Bell 212 crashes into Maduru Oya
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
