The Colombo bourse on Thursday opened on a negative note amidst news that Nalaka Godahewa, the controversial Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) chairperson's had resigned.
The All Share Price Index dipped 30.94 points to stand at 7,296.40 (0.42 per cent) with the S&P SL20 down 3.67 points (0.09 per cent) to stand at 4,099.98.
Analysts said they are expecting a lot of changes with the likely re-appointment of former SEC chairperson Thilak Karunaratne, who quit under pressure allegedly from the stock market mafia.
The turnover amounted to Rs.163.3 million.
