Manjula de Silva will assume duties as the Secretary General/CEO of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce from February 1, after current incumbent Ms. Dhara Wijayatilake retires from that position -- after serving in that capacity since March 2016.
Mr. de Silva has held several senior positions in the private sector as well as in the public sector, including as a Member of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka, as Chairperson of the National Insurance Trust Fund, as Managing Director and CEO of HNB Assurance PLC, and the Director General of the Public Enterprises Reform Commission, among others, the chamber said in an announcement on Thursday.
Mr. de Silva served as the Chairman of the CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) Sri Lanka Board in 2016, and was subsequently appointed to its Regional Board for MESANA (Middle East, South Asia, and North Africa) Region. He is a Past President of both Insurance Association of Sri Lanka (IASL) and Unit Trust Association of Sri Lanka (UTASL).
Currently Mr. Silva serves as a Board Member of BPPL Holdings Ltd. since 2016, and a Board Member of the Tea Smallholder Factories PLC since 2017.
