Sri Lanka encourages more domestic flt operators

Business

The Sri Lankan government has called for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from local and international businesses to operate scheduled domestic flights to key tourism destination sites on the island.
The National Agency for Public-Private Partnership, the Finance and Mass Media Ministry and the Transport and Civil Aviation Ministry has requested EOIs from interested parties for the establishment of scheduled airline operations for domestic passenger air services based in Sri Lanka, an advertisement published in the newspapers stated on Wednesday. The prospective investor should partly have Sri Lankan shareholding with experience in this sector.
The investor should be able to mobilise at least two modern turboprop aircraft, having not less than 12 passenger seats to operate commercial flights.
Flights would have to be operated daily using the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and Ratmalana Airport as bases to selected local airports and/or 'hop-on-hop-off' service involving multiple airports. (SD)
