‘SubraMania Global Fusion’: A celebration of Indo-Sri Lankan harmony

‘SubraMania Global Fusion’ an Indian and Sri Lankan classical music extravaganza will come alive at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre in Colombo on June 22nd, 2024. This unforgettable evening promises to celebrate the vibrant cultural bridge between these two nations. 

‘SubraMania Global Fusion’ will feature top Indian classical musicians and Sri Lankan maestros in the scene, who are billed to perform on a captivating musical journey that seamlessly blends the rich traditions of Indian and Sri Lankan classical music with contemporary trends. ‘SubraMania Global Fusion’ musical journey is a presentation by Siddhivinayak Cine Arts in association with Sahanya Foundation Sri Lanka.

Headlining the event is the dynamic duo of SubraMania, formed by siblings Bindu Subramaniam (vocals) and Ambi Subramaniam (violin). Renowned for their electrifying fusion of Indian classical with elements of pop, rock and jazz, they have captivated audiences worldwide. Their band features acclaimed musicians Frijo Francis (piano), Karthik Mani (percussion), Prashanth Gnanamuthu (bass), and Akshay Anantapadmanabhan (mridangam).

Renowned playback singer Sharanya Srinivas, lends her unparalleled talent to this show as its leading vocalist. Joining them are revered Sri Lankan maestros Professor Pradeep Ratnayake, Ravibandu Vidyapathi and Upula Madhushanka. 

Sitarist Pradeep Ratnayake renowned for his innovative compositions blending Sri Lankan, Indian, and Western classical music. Drum ensemble led by acclaimed drummer and choreographer Ravibandu Vidyapathi, known for their fusion of traditional Sri Lankan and contemporary dance forms will join the fiesta along with renowned bass player Upula Madhushanka adding depth and richness to the fusion ensemble.

This event caters to discerning music lovers, who appreciate both Indian and Sri Lankan classical traditions and are open to exploring contemporary fusion styles.

‘It targets Indian professionals in Sri Lanka, upper-class Sri Lankan audiences, and enthusiasts of eastern classical and fusion music’ said Koushalya Wickramasinghe, the Chairperson of ‘Siddhivinayak Cine Arts’. It promises to celebrate the vibrant cultural bridge between these two nations. The audience will be
experiencing a captivating blend of classical ragas, rhythmic beats and contemporary melodies.

‘Witness how SubraMania’s innovative compositions seamlessly integrate elements of Carnatic and Hindustani music with Western influences. The Sri Lankan artistes will add their distinct flavour, creating a truly multicultural soundscape that transcends borders’ added Koushalya.
