The 12th Annual Research Symposium on Sinhala Studies, organized by the Department of Sinhala, University of Colombo, took place on the 21st of September 2023 at 9:00 AM at the New Arts Theatre (NAT) with the presence of the Vice Chancellor Senior Professor H.D. Karunaratne along with other invitees, scholars, and students.
This year's symposium focused on the theme of "Sinhala Language and Literature in Times of Crisis." The keynote address was delivered by Professor Arjuna Parakrama, Former Senior Professor of English in the Department of English, University of Peradeniya.
The annual symposium serves as a platform for students and scholars in the field of Sinhala studies to share their research findings with a broader audience. In conjunction with this event, a book exhibition was held on the Faculty premises from the 20th to the 21st of September 2023.
