Raw energy met unstoppable vision as this year's graduates of the Academy of Design (AOD) put their collections on display during Day One of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Sri Lanka (MBFWSL) held at Cinnamon Life on Wednesday.
The collections showcased a dynamic spectrum of aesthetics with designs ranging from bold, colourful statements to clean, monochromatic looks, moving through an array of rich and unexpected colour palettes. Silhouettes and cuts were equally diverse—structured, fluid, sculptural, and deconstructed—each revealing a distinct point of view. Intricate embroidery, patchwork, quilting, and experimental textile techniques sat alongside striking prints, pushing materiality into new territory.
The show moved effortlessly between evening wear, athleisure, sports-inspired tailoring, urban streetwear, and even more risqué, boundary-pushing pieces.
Together, the collections captured the pulse of a generation unafraid to merge craftsmanship with attitude, heritage with edge, and identity with imagination.
