The Commons coffee house, the first home grown coffee house in the city, is turning 20 — and they’re celebrating with a bold new look and an expanded menu with fresh flavours, reimagined favourites and all-new dishes.
Known as the cosy hangout for many whether young to the old, the refreshed interiors of the Commons have been elegantly redesigned to feature cane fittings and furniture, against a vibrant colour palette.
In support of young and emerging artists, the refurbishment at the Commons includes art thoughtfully curated in collaboration with qualified architects. Adding an innovative layer to the visual experience, decorative mobile displays designed by art students bring movement and fresh perspectives to the restaurant interior.
For all coffee lovers, there’s a new range of coffees featuring hot favourites like Crème Brule Cappuccino, Chocolate Mint Cappuccino, Café Mocha, Spiced Latte, Piccolo Latte, and Affogato, while the cold coffees are just as impressive, with the Ice Milo Latte, Iced Café Mocha, Iced Spiced Latte, and Iced Caramel Latte and more.
The Commons’ special kids' menu has all the kids’ particulra favourites and for those who can’t resist freshly baked bread, the new Bread and Sandwich Counter has Baguette, Ciabatta, Focaccia, Brown, and more — for takeaway, or to build your own delicious sandwich just the way you like it.
Commons continues to be a part of city celebrations with its signature Rotti cart and diverse catering menus.
“This is the Coffee House that has raised generations. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of Commons, I take this opportunity to thank our regular and long term guests who have made memories at Commons and our long standing staff, ” said MD, Harpo Gooneratne.
