On Sunday, June 1 at 7.30 p.m., the Lionel Wendt Theatre will come alive as the Muslim Choral Ensemble (MCE) presents An-Nur 2025, unveiling completely new work. Founded in 2017, the Muslim Choral Ensemble’s mission is to preserve the rich legacy of Islamic renditions through their music and bring it to a wider audience.
........................................................................................................................................................................................‘Bright Light’, Sri Lanka’s first band made up of visually impaired young people will present their first public performance on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the MJF Center Auditorium in Katubedda, Moratuwa from 5.30 pm onwards. The band is directed by popular musician Melantha Perera.

‘Mother, Junglefowl and Scarecrow’, a solo exhibition by young artist Pathum Sameera opens on June 6 at the Barefoot Gallery in Colombo and will be on display until June 28.
Through storybook-like illustrations in charcoal and ink, Sameera captures the important role women play in Southern Sri Lanka’s rural agricultural landscape, and explores the shifting dynamics of gender roles, triggered by the migration of men in search of labour.
