Day three of Swim Week Colombo, a colourful finale

The last day of CFW Swim Week Colombo took place at Shangri La Hotel Ballroom recently. There was an excitement that buzzed through the crowd, as they waited it was the last showcase of CFW Swim Week Colombo.

The last day of CFW Swim Week Colombo took place at Shangri La Hotel Ballroom recently. There was an excitement that buzzed through the crowd, as they waited it was the last showcase of CFW Swim Week Colombo. 

The third day kicked off with EKA, designed by Rina Singh. The collection is reminiscent of a pastel dream, as white mixed with pastel colours in vivid patterns took the forefront.  

Next to take the stage was the 100% linen collection by Fouzul Hameed, having over 30 years of experience in the fashion industry and has made a name for himself as the "Menswear Specialist". The collection saw cream coloured jackets, blue patterned shirts paired with light pants and as a whole presented itself as extremely practical and wearable.

Hitting the stage next with its striking patterns was Stefel by Peronie. The brand stays true to local batik crafts with a contemporary spin to create an artisan realm of vibrant and intricate print designs that channel bohemian chic energy. The collection on a whole has beautiful rose coloured patterned swimwear on both white and black backgrounds. The white sari with a rose pattern, was definitely the showstopper piece. 

The last showcase of the first half was Nivedita Saboo. A connoisseur of beautifully textured fabrics, innovative methods, exquisite surface ornamentation combined with an innate, almost intuitive understanding of the body type. Her collection stood out amongst the rest, with its well-made coats, bright vivid patterns, sheer elements, embellished tops and asymmetric cuts. Her collection took the entire showcase to a whole new level!

Indian designer Wendell Rodricks took the stage next, credited with pioneering the concept of 'resort wear' and 'eco-friendly' garments in the Indian fashion industry in 1995. The collection, ‘Notes from the sea’ presented everything you would want to wear over your swimwear to the beach or the pool, featuring many sheer pieces in its collection.  

Rumpunch burst into the runway with their patterned, bright and very much Sri Lankan collection. Rumpunch is an embodiment of island spirit - featuring bright colours and bold prints, the essence of island life.  A synergy between swimwear, athletic wear and leisurewear, Rumpunch focusses on multi-functional garments. The collection aims to capture Sri Lanka's diversity, with not just its patterns, boldness and style but also its vibrant energy. 

The ramp was barely lit, as the models entered wearing pieces of the Mystical  Monsoon, collection by Meraki. The title perfectly described the collection, as the dark colour scheme and mood of the collection was similar to the Eye of the storm, with browns, dark greens, fiery reds as well as ominous hooded figures capturing that atmosphere. 

The last collection of the night was, Aqua Blu. In the decade since it was founded, the Australian swimwear label has stayed true to the concept of stylish, feminine fashion. Today, Creative Director, Kristian Chase, brings his unique vision to the label to continue connecting with a new generation of stylish women. The entire collection was beautifully cut with its vivid blue patterns, white pieces and ocean-themed designs.
